Here’s mine

Peit Geyser - he is the founder of Q-Photo in SA, maybe some of you remember them, they’re still around - I just googled them

He was also my dads boss - before he let him go for being white lol (BEE coming in clutch)

But he was/is rich and he would visit us cause my dad was a senior manager there in the early and mid 2000s

He’d come with brand new S-Class, I’d hide away, I never liked people visiting, or people for that matter - shy kid I guess - ironic since now i’m blasting content out into the universe.

Anyway

He asked me what I wanted to become when I grow up - I didn’t know the answer, honestly, still don’t

But actually, my answer is still the same now as it was then, “Rich”

Whatever I was going to become, doctor, lawyer, engineer, it was going to be a rich one

He told me those precious words which I will never ever forget:

“If you want to become rich, find something you love, and get good at it”

And have never really gotten better career advice then that really

I’ve been interviewing for 7 roles this month

Yes SEVEN

Its great for business, but terrible for my time

I really do love my job, and meeting new people is awesome - it does take it out of me though and really can take all the energy from my by the end of the day

Its Friday today, and I have 5 meetings - on a freaken Friday

most of them are not for recruiting, its sales, marketing and business development stuff (potential clients, that’s right, more recruiting to come)

Anyway

While speaking to a lot of them and a lot of you

I often have to ask to get to the point, or hurry you up, because you can be verbose, or long winded in your explanations (i.e. not concise at all, its like you’re writing an essay and have to stuff extra words in it, so you just say the same thing, but differently)

You have to be very deliberate about all the above
