We’ve actually gotten a little bit of demand for our services lately, they’re super small projects, nothing to brag about - but in business, surviving is a lot of the game.

And in this game i’m playing, i’ve noticed something that helps me get clients, and helps you get work

Speed and Accessibility

I actually lost a deal because of this too - so today I wanna chat speed, availability and capturing opportunities

JOBS

Will genuinely be surprised if ANY of you know this job board

I was actually co-working with a friend and client last week and he told me about this community - AI Tinkerers

You should check it out and also apply to join, its free BUT its not easy to get in

They’ve got chapters in Jhb and CPT, so you should try join their community, they are legit πŸ™‚

And of course, they’ve got a job board - highly recommend going through it and checking it out

You’re welcome πŸ˜‰

INTERVIEWS

Make Haste, Not War

There is this MACHINE of a developer I have been trying to work with, since the start of the year - Nikola.

He wanted a short-term opportunity, something fun and exciting, but also, and mainly, short.

As luck would have it, one of our affilaite partners, they reached out and needed just the guy - so I write Nikola on Monday and…

nothing

I email Nikola on Tuesday, and…

nothing

I then CALL Nikola on Wednesday and…

Well, he did answer haha - but this was too late, because he only got back to me on Thursday night answering all the interview questions (there were 4, they were short, literally one minute each)

By Friday morning when I got back to my affiliate, deal was long gone…

We were definitely the best placed to capture this deal, we had the best talent, the best budget, and the most speed (we could have started immediately)

But Nikola was slow to respond, slow to react and slow to capitalize on a great opportunity.

He wrote me on Saturday asking if there was any news - β€œonly bad new” I said.

In this market - you have to move quick, you have to be easily accessible, you have to be very responsive, you have to be proactive and follow up.

Speed kills, but in this situation, not because you were going so fast, but because you were going so slow.

CAREER

You Dont Need To Know It All - Or Even Have It All

Remember the friend I was talking about last week - looking for work?

He’s been avoiding applying to some roles, actually, he’s been avoiding applying to MANY roles

Why?

Because if he has 7 to 9 out of 10 requirements, he simply wont apply. He just thinks that the MUST have is a MUST

And many times it is, BUT, if i were him, and i didnt have a MUST have, i wouldnt let that stop me.

If you have MOST of the MUSTS, you apply

If you dont, you can still, but who knows whether its worth your time and effort

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Here’s R500 of AI Credits

I’m repeating this here, cause my last newsletter was a bit sensitive with the Subject Line, so fewer people opened it, so fewer people saw this deal

Not sure how many of you have used low code tools or AI App Builers but Replit is one of the best

Sign up below, and use the code β€œWEBSUMMIT” - you’ll get 25$ worth of credits for free

Then go ahead and try build something out - here’s what i built - and i think its pretty freaken DOPE!! it took me like 20 minutes too, was super fast

THATS A WRAP

I know I’ve said im back like twice already haha - once was after some much deserved rest and another after like 3 weeks of not writing.

Its not easy doing this stuff you know :)) but honestly, i missed this

I missed sitting by my macbook pro m1 (13inch) - lying on the couch, and having my fingers go at it for 30-40 minutes

ANY HOW!
