I’m staying at a friends place in London, and he has been looking for a new job (while working his current job) - and he’s been complaining about how time consuming it’s been, how slow its been and how he doesnt stand out at all

My brothers wife, she doesnt have a job, and is looking for a job and has very similar feedback

We all shared a cup of tea (classic UK move) last night - and they were asking for my humble advice πŸ˜› jk, they didnt ask, I gave unsolicited advice haha

So today i’m going to help you with that same unsolicited advice

Lets goooo πŸš€

Btw, this happened on monday night, im writing this on tuesday monring, 7:21am, and i’ll probably send this out friday morning, so when i say β€œlast night” it wasnt really last night πŸ˜›

JOBS

You need to find the Job Board most relevant to you

I’ve been sharing Linkedin, Indeed, RemoteOK, and probably like 20 other job boards (see my older posts)

But the main thing is finding the job boards most relevant to you - looking internationally is amazing, but you want to also check the local market.

You gotta see local SA job boards, and newspaper classifieds and recruitment company job boards (especially local recruitment company job boards, and connecting with the recruiters that work there)

It’s a time suck yes, but its also your future and your life, no one is coming to run your life for you :))

INTERVIEWS

Here’s the OnlyFans part

Your CV, your Cover Letter, your Linkedin Profile

These things are all very 2-dimensional, and they leave a lot to the readers/hiring managers/recruiters imagination, which is usually lack luster.

So how do you stand out?

Most (yourself included) people are terrified of making a short video explainer about themselves, but this is exactly why it works so well

You WILL stand out - im not saying it will be positive, maybe you leave a poor impression πŸ˜‰ but at the very least, you will be different, stand out, and laughed at (i mean, remembered)

SOOO how do we make sure we stand out positively?

  1. Clear and concise intro - just say hi, your name (what it means if it has a cool meaning) and β€œI just wanted to make a short video introducing myself)

  2. Give a cool backstory - How did you get into tech, why did you get into tech, when did you get into tech, where did you get into tech etc - 5 years later, i still remember a guy who got into coding because he was cracking into GTA games to get cool gun skins etc

  3. Show something interesting - Tell them about a project you’ve worked on that was challenging, that had a great outcome, that you are proud of, that shows off your abilities

  4. Match your skills and experience to the job posting - just highlight what they want vs what you’ve got

  5. Thank them for their time - thats self self-explanatory no?

And thats it kids, you’re ready to sell yourself online now - you are very welcome

Oh, btw, use a tool like Tella or Loom to do the recording, they offer free versions up to like 25 recordings…

CAREER

You need to get into the adult film industry

The TLDR - video is a great way to communicate and build relationships

Now that you’ve got that Tella or Loom account - You gotta put it to use!!!

Bugs you want to explain? Record it

Features you want built? Record it

Status updates on progress? Record it

You get the idea - dont go crazy, but also, go crazy

  • You’ll become more comfortable on camera

  • You’ll improve your communication skills

  • You’ll gain trust and appreciation

  • You’ll reduce meetings/emails

There’s so much you can do with video, I do think its a smart move to make and I strongly encourage it

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Here’s R500 of AI Credits

Not sure how many of you have used low code tools or AI App Builers but Replit is one of the best

Sign up below, and use the code β€œWEBSUMMIT” - you’ll get 25$ worth of credits for free

Then go ahead and try build something out - here’s what i built - and i think its pretty freaken DOPE!! it took me like 20 minutes too, was super fast

THATS A WRAP

I know I’ve said im back like twice already haha - once was after some much deserved rest and another after like 3 weeks of not writing.

Its not easy doing this stuff you know :)) but honestly, i missed this

I missed sitting by my macbook pro m1 (13inch) - lying on the couch, and having my fingers go at it for 30-40 minutes
